Somewhere in the north of the Colombian Amazon lies the Indian Sixto Muñoz, also known as the “last tinigua Indian”. The locals of La Macarena, where he has lived since 1970, tell us that some four years ago he decided to leave his lagoon-side home to make his last journey into the forest. In an expedition along the Guayabero River, from the Macarena to the Guaviare, I follow his trail in the hope of meeting him before his death.
