A few years after his adventures in Le Dernier des céfrans, we meet up with Rémi, a young soldier with no vocation or conviction, as he heads off to Africa on a mission against Islamist groups.
After escaping an attack in extremis, he finds himself on his own in the Malian desert, where he stumbles across Ali, an old friend from the neighborhood who has become a jihadist.
Fortunately, Captain Bedowski and his loyal Sergeant Richard, the old barbouzes who recruited Rémi in France, are on hand to track him down.
